It’s Spring Time

It’s Officially Spring!

Look what is going on during this time of year. You feel it, smell it and see it happening right before your eyes. Life is happening all around us and also within us. As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, we witness and become part of the earth coming to life. It marks the end of hibernation and the beginning of regrowth as the birds start singing in the morning, trees begin growing green leaves and flowers push through the dirt and blossom .

There’s More

In addition, our hormones actually begin to change. We produce lower amounts of melatonin which reduces depression, our retinas are effected by the longer appearance of the sun. We sleep less and energy surges. We become more aware of body image and we begin to eat healthier. Resulting in a decreased desire to reach for comfort food. Instead, we replace it with gardening and outdoor cooking leading us to healthier choices. The nice weather draws us outside to work in the yard, take a walk and connect with others. Because we spend more time outside, we breath more fresh air and move our bodies more.

Spring Has Sprung

This is the time for rebirth, renewal, rejuvenation. It’s the season of new beginnings. What is your new beginning? What dream will you give birth to? This is your time to get into action and live the life you’ve been waiting to live. Get out of the house. Open the windows. Live! Start to fertilize your inner growth. Join a pottery class, take a walk or plant a garden. Bring a part of you to life that you have been neglecting. Get creative, set your goals and indulge in your hobbies.  Start growing during springtime and continue throughout the year. It’s time to begin tending to your inner garden and make changes in your life. You deserve it.

Finding the Answers

Happy “YOU” Year

As we begin our journey of making 2021 our Happy “YOU” Year, it’s important to ask ourselves the right questions so we can be clear about what it is we are creating on this clean slate. We stand here with a blank canvas that is waiting for us to decide what 2021 will hold for us. Where will we be a year from right now?

Now is the Time

That can be an overwhelming question because most of us are so out of touch with who we are, that we have no idea what we want. Even more troubling is that many women answer that question with what someone else believes we are. We spend so much time listening to what others say and think that we don’t do it for ourselves. We’ve lost who we are. That is why now is the perfect time to unravel all of the answers that are within us. The best way to understand who we are and what we truly want is to ask questions.  If we ask the right questions, we can restore the heart and build strength and confidence as we develop the will to uncover our true selves. Explore questions that dig into your souls, into your heart and into our dreams.

Let’s Dream

If you could live the life of your dreams, what would that look like? Where would you be? What would be around you? Who would be with you. If there were no restrictions and you could be, do and have anything you desired, what would it be? When you ask your heart these questions, listen. Don’t be in a hurry to answer them. Wait and then ask them again. Let your imagination and your heart explore your covered up dreams. You will know when it is time to write these things down. You will know when you have the vision of what your year can look like.

Be Creative

You can also ask your own questions. As one question is asked another may pop up. Go with it and explore your heart. This is not a script. It is creative, it is exploration and it is the rebuilding of your true self. When you come up with answer, ask yourself “why”. Why is this important to you? What will it bring you? How will it make you feel? What will it mean? Just keep exploring. This is the process of reaching your authentic self.

The Summary of 2020

A Year of Challenges

We can all agree that 2020 has been a very challenging year and we have learned to adjust our lives in so many ways. Whether our job, finances, family life or self-esteem has been effected, each one of us has been forced to step back and look at how these times and events  have changed us and changed the way we live. To add to these challenges, the regular turns of life are also piling up and forcing us to make decisions we may not want to make. There’s so much to do and to figure out, that we start feeling overwhelmed, stressed, confused and frustrated because we don’t know where to begin.

New Year’s Resolutions

Now, we are approaching the end of the year. What that means, our  New Year’s Resolutions are here and boy are they plentiful. How can we choose a resolution when there is so much we would like to change? For the most part, history shows that these resolutions turn out to be more like wish lists. We make a decision to change our bodies, our futures and our relationships and this “new” resolution does what it did the year before. It works for the first week or if we are lucky, for the next two weeks.

Here’s the Problem

As we take this  time to reflect on what went right, wrong and what  needs to be changed to come up with our New Year’s Resolution for 2021, we create a list that looks more like a “to do list”.  We go into the new year with an idea but no plan to reach these goals. We are merely make a wish and then get down on ourselves for not following through with our goal.

Make a Plan

So what do we do to actually reach our resolution instead of beating ourselves up for not doing what we told ourselves and everyone else about how we were going to change? The way to stick to a resolution or goal is to make a plan. Create a step by step strategy on HOW you will attain that goal. Schedule the time for it and most importantly decide why this goal is so important to you. Your goal has to mean something to you and be written down for you to have a commitment to yourself. To accomplish what you throw out there as your New Year’s Resolution, you have got to be serious about it. So get to work now and be ready for the time when you  turn the page on 2020 and make your next year count.
